General Project Description

The Town of Apple Valley, Housing & Community Development Department is seeking qualified mechanical engineering consultants to provide professional design services for the replacement of existing evaporative cooling systems (swamp coolers) with new energy-efficient HVAC systems at the James Woody Auditorium. This project aims to enhance occupant comfort, improve energy efficiency, and improve indoor air quality by enhancing filtration and airflow controls to reduce airborne particles, including COVID-19. The consultant's scope includes comprehensive mechanical engineering design, preparation of construction documents, and project lifecycle support, ensuring compliance with the 2025 California Mechanical Code and 2025 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24) concerning ventilation, refrigerant, and heat pump requirements. Key tasks involve site assessments, system evaluations, demolition and installation design, coordination with other engineering disciplines, development of permit-ready construction documents, bidding support, and post-construction assistance.
