General Project Description

This project involves the replacement and modernization of the 24-year-old legacy Omron electro-mechanical jail door locking system controls and components at the City of Burbank jail facility. The modernization includes the complete integration and installation of all electronics, software, hardware, casework, and fixtures. The facility will remain operational 24/7, requiring the General Contractor to plan and sequence all work to minimize disruption to detention center operations. Key elements of the scope include site protection, coordination of door control installation and other work in occupied areas, demolition of obsolete low-voltage and electrical jail door systems, consolidation of relay cabinets (from 8 to 3) and control panels (from 3 to 1), installation of a new control station for operators, obtaining necessary trade permits, installation of an isolated security control network, incorporation of new IP cameras into the security control system, and removal of existing analog visitation phones to install new VOIP phones.
