General Project Description

This project is a Price Agreement for Water Main Line Stopping & Valve Insertion Services for the City of Burbank Water and Power (BWP) Department, Water Division. The scope involves providing all necessary labor, equipment, material, and supervision to perform line stopping and valve insertion services on pressurized water mains on an as-needed basis. Line stopping is required to isolate existing pipes (ductile iron, cast iron, steel, and concrete cylinder pipes) when shutdowns cannot be accomplished by existing valves. Valve insertion involves installing new valves on live water mains without service interruption, utilizing non-rising stem, resilient wedge, ductile iron body gate valves manufactured per AWWA C-509 or C-515 standards with a 250 psi working pressure (e.g., Insta-Valve 250 Patriot or approved equal). The project also includes welding on tapping sleeves, requiring the contractor to submit a welding plan for BWP review and approval that complies with AWWA Standard C206-17 Field Welding of Steel Water Pipe, with a specified branch size of 6 inches for items 13-16. The City of Burbank Water and Power will handle excavation, shoring, thrust blocks, backfill, pavement, traffic control, and excavation permits.
