General Project Description

The City of Calabasas is seeking a qualified Contractor for a two-phase, task-order contract to inventory and update speed limit signs. Phase 1 involves a comprehensive inventory of all existing speed limit signs within the City, including identifying street names, GPS coordinates, mounting types, documenting their condition, taking photographs, compiling data into Excel and KMZ formats, and providing a summary report of signs found and those requiring replacement. Phase 2, contingent on City approval of Phase 1 deliverables and available funding, will involve implementing updates to speed limit signage based on inventory results. This work may include relocating existing speed limit signs, removing redundant, obsolete, or damaged signs and posts, and installing new signs and posts to achieve compliance with the City's updated speed limits. All installations must meet California MUTCD (latest edition) and CalTrans 2023 Standard Specifications. Additional tasks include documenting the final inventory, noting landscaping requirements for sign visibility, and installing retroreflective orange flags as directed by the City. Payment for Phase 2 will be based on unit prices for sign installation, removal, relocation, and related work.
