General Project Description
The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) in Metropolitan California is seeking bids from contractors to provide on-demand scrap metal pickup and recycling services across its various facilities. The purpose is to divert scrap metal materials from landfill disposal in accordance with local, State, and Federal regulations. The contractor will furnish all necessary materials, supplies, tools, equipment, transportation, licenses, certifications, permits, insurance, and personnel. The services will be provided as needed, and the contractor will reimburse DSH a bid percentage of the market value of the collected scrap metal. Items for pickup include, but are not limited to, paperboard carton, sheet metal, galvanized pipes, various metal items (sinks, bins, file cabinets, beds, racks, ice makers, shelving, angle iron), refrigerators, washers, and air conditioning units. The contractor is responsible for providing and maintaining 15-cubic yard and 40-cubic yard containers, clearly labeled as "Recyclable Metal Only", with rainproof covers/tarps. Subcontracting is not permitted for this service.
