General Project Description

This project involves construction on State Highway 1 in Santa Barbara County, near Orcutt and Guadalupe, spanning from Solomon Road to Route 166 (Post Mile R36.3/49.2). The general scope includes widening shoulders, installing rumble strips, and guardrails. It also entails various civil engineering works such as earthwork, temporary traffic control, water pollution control (requiring a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan), environmental stewardship with wildlife exclusion fencing, landscape work including planting and erosion control, surfacings and pavements using hot mix asphalt, drainage facilities (culvert installation, removal, cleaning, and repair), miscellaneous construction including gravel filters, and traffic control devices such as pavement markers, roadside signs, guardrail systems, camera systems, and traffic monitoring stations.
