General Project Description

This project involves construction on State Highway Route 280 in the City and County of San Francisco, stretching from the San Francisco County Line to Brannan Street, with specific work near 2800 Alemany Boulevard. The general scope includes cold planning, Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA-G) overlay, polyester concrete overlay, concrete barrier modifications, replacement of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavement, and installation/replacement of Changeable Message Systems (CMS). Major works include extensive structural excavation and backfill for bridges, retaining walls, and soldier pile walls; drilling and installation of ground anchors, steel soldier piles, and cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piling; comprehensive landscaping and erosion control measures such as hydroseed, compost, fiber rolls, and irrigation systems; detailed temporary traffic control systems with barriers, signs, impact attenuators, and radar speed feedback; pavement markings and rumble strips (asphalt and concrete); electrical systems for traffic control devices and cellular routers; as well as ongoing vibration and crack monitoring, and careful management/disposal of regulated earth material containing lead and treated wood waste.
