General Project Description

This project involves the construction of a roundabout and installation of lighting on State Highway 199 in Del Norte County, near Crescent City, specifically from the S199-S101 Connector Overcrossing to 0.1 mile north of Kings Valley Road. The work encompasses various aspects of highway construction and rehabilitation, including temporary traffic control, water pollution control, environmental stewardship (including treated wood waste management), earthwork, landscape, erosion control, permanent erosion control establishment, and surfacing and pavements (hot mix asphalt and concrete pavement, including colored and stamped concrete). Structural elements include concrete backfill, reinforced concrete pipe installation, and culvert removal. Roadside features such as rock slope protection, detectable warning surfaces, minor concrete for curb, gutter, sidewalk, and curb ramps, miscellaneous iron and steel, delineators, pavement markers, and signs (removal and installation) are also part of the scope. Pavement marking and rumble strip installation are required. Electrical work covers lighting system removal and installation, and integration of various systems like traffic counters, cellular routers, networking hardware, cameras, and power supplies. The project also requires managing lead-containing residues from pavement removal and coordination with adjacent fiber optic and roadway improvement projects.
