General Project Description

This project involves the construction and improvement of a segment of a state highway in Kern County, Delano. The general work description includes Hot Mix Asphalt (Type A) paving, minor concrete work, and the installation or modification of signal and lighting systems. Key elements of the project include lead compliance, critical path scheduling, temporary traffic control (signs, barricades, channelizers, traffic drums, portable changeable message signs, temporary radar speed feedback systems), job site management, stormwater pollution prevention, material removal (concrete, culvert, fence, existing signs), clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, subgrade enhancement with geogrid, soil amendment, planting and plant establishment work, irrigation systems (plastic pipes, valves, controllers), asphalt concrete paving and dike placement, tack coat application, cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piles for sign foundations, structural concrete for drainage inlets, reinforced concrete pipe installation (various sizes and specifications), steel and concrete flared end sections, rock slope protection, detectable warning surfaces, miscellaneous concrete construction, pre/post construction surveys, miscellaneous iron and steel work, manhole frame and cover installation, survey monuments, bus shelters, lower and raise utility frames and covers, curb painting, mailbox relocation, chain link fence and gate installation, pavement markers, milepost markers, roadside and overhead sign installation (laminated panel, single sheet aluminum), thermoplastic and painted pavement markings, and modifications to signal, lighting, and traffic monitoring station systems. Treated wood waste management is also required.
