California State Dept of Transportation (CalTrans) is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, Multi-Provider, On-Call, and As-Needed Positive Location of Underground Utility Facilities, identified under Solicitation ID: 09A1078. Work is to be performed near 1727 30th St, Sacramento, CA 95816, USA in Sacramento County.
General Project Description
This is a multi-provider, on-call, as-needed service request for the positive location of underground utility facilities for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in Inyo, Mono, and Eastern Kern Counties. The contractor will provide all labor, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, traffic control, and incidentals to perform routine positive location services using methods such as vacuum excavation, hand excavation, electronic detection, ground penetrating radar, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspection. The work includes marking out utilities, backfilling excavations with standard commercial-grade or special backfill material, and restoring the site surface (asphalt, concrete, curb, gutter, sidewalk) to its original condition. The project also involves obtaining necessary permits and managing traffic control.

- Quantity: 500 Unit: Per each excavation (first six (6) or ten (10) LF) Work Item: Vacuum excavation (positive location) first six (6) feet, Specifications: includes mark outs, backfill, hand dig, and report. Standard commercial grade backfill material shall meet the requirements, as described in Exhibit A, Scope of Work.

- Quantity: 250 Unit: Per each probe Work Item: Probing detection for the horizontal and vertical location, Specifications: includes mark out and report.
- Quantity: 250 Unit: Per each detection Work Item: Electronic detection for determining the horizontal and vertical location, Specifications: includes mark out and report.
- Quantity: 250 Unit: Per each inspection (first 350' LF) Work Item: CCTV Closed Circuit Television Inspection and robotic control up to first 350' LF, Specifications: includes report.

- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Maximum allowable expenditure for Special Provisions. Reimbursed at actual cost, not to exceed 10% of contract amount (supported by original receipts). Includes: Railroad permit fees, Railroad insurance as required, Railroad flagging, Encroachment Permits for Cities and Counties, Permits for Freeway Closure – one (1) lane, Permits for Freeway Closure – two (2) lanes, Permits for Local Street Closure – one (1) lane, Permits for Local Street Closure – two (2) lanes, Police time (highway patrol). The amount must be 10 percent (10%) of the Subtotal of Items 1-16.
