General Project Description

This is a multi-provider, on-call, as-needed service request for the positive location of underground utility facilities for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in Inyo, Mono, and Eastern Kern Counties. The contractor will provide all labor, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, traffic control, and incidentals to perform routine positive location services using methods such as vacuum excavation, hand excavation, electronic detection, ground penetrating radar, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspection. The work includes marking out utilities, backfilling excavations with standard commercial-grade or special backfill material, and restoring the site surface (asphalt, concrete, curb, gutter, sidewalk) to its original condition. The project also involves obtaining necessary permits and managing traffic control.

Includes: Railroad permit fees, Railroad insurance as required, Railroad flagging, Encroachment Permits for Cities and Counties, Permits for Freeway Closure – one (1) lane, Permits for Freeway Closure – two (2) lanes, Permits for Local Street Closure – one (1) lane, Permits for Local Street Closure – two (2) lanes, Police time (highway patrol). The amount must be 10 percent (10%) of the Subtotal of Items 1-16.
