General Project Description

This project involves the comprehensive abatement and disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) associated with flooring materials at Valle Vista Elementary School. The work must adhere strictly to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Cal/OSHA, Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations, and EPA NESHAP. The scope is based on the Asbestos Abatement and Project Design Plan prepared by JaySee Environmental, which details the identified ACMs for removal. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and necessary permits for the abatement. Key activities include demolition of non-ACM structures to access asbestos, establishing full containment areas with negative air pressure and wet decontamination systems, the continuous wet removal of various flooring systems and their mastics, and the double bagging and compliant labeling and disposal of hazardous waste. Air monitoring will be performed throughout the project to ensure fiber levels remain below permissible exposure limits. Note that the installation of new flooring materials is excluded from this contract and will be managed separately.
