General Project Description

This project involves the rehabilitation of approximately 2.8 miles of pavement along South Park Drive within Lower Bidwell Park, extending from Cypress Street/Woodland Avenue to Centennial Avenue. The primary objective is to improve the condition and functionality of the road while enhancing safety, accessibility, and environmental stewardship. Planned improvements include roadway reconstruction using Full Depth Reclamation with cement (FDR-C) and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) paving, shoulder backing, new and updated signage, thermoplastic pavement markings and striping, minor HMA overlay of pedestrian paths, and new vehicle exclusion gates. HMA paving of three existing gravel parking areas within the One-Mile Recreation Area is included as additive bid items. Work also includes mobilization, construction surveys, traffic control, storm water pollution prevention, temporary erosion control, arborist/biologist services, tree root potholing, clearing and grubbing, soil decompaction, aggregate base installation, concrete pavement removal, grinding, detectable warning surfaces, minor concrete for sidewalks, precast concrete wheel stops, various sign installations/removals/relocations, guardrail system installation, fencing, and enhanced native landscaping.
