General Project Description
The City of Coachella is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to conduct an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Study. This study will involve a thorough assessment of existing EV charging infrastructure (Level 1, Level 2, DCFC) within city boundaries, identification of priority locations for new chargers (public facilities, parks, retail, workplaces, underserved neighborhoods), analysis of electrical grid constraints in collaboration with utilities, evaluation of policies and regulations for streamlined EV charger deployment, modeling of charging demand through 2035, exploration of regional collaboration and funding sources, recommendation of standards for signage, access, ADA compliance, and charger interoperability, and outlining a phased implementation and funding strategy with cost estimates. The project also emphasizes robust community engagement and bilingual outreach, particularly in disadvantaged or rural communities, to support equitable and cost-effective deployment across the city.
