General Project Description
The East Bay Regional Park District is soliciting proposals for targeted goat and/or mixed goat/sheep grazing services for fire hazard mitigation across various District lands in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The project includes two main tasks: Task 1 consists of four-year contracts for specific grazing units with defined acreages and timelines, with a possibility of a one-year extension. Task 2 involves one or more four-year on-call grazing service contracts, with costs based on a predetermined per-acre rate for varying complexity levels (Low, Moderate, High) and seasonality, with an annual maximum of $300,000 per contractor for on-call task orders. The primary goal is vegetation reduction, targeting grasses to a height of 4-6 inches and browsing brush and herbaceous fuels, typically achieved using portable electric fencing within 2-10 acre enclosures. Contractors are responsible for all aspects of animal husbandry, invasive species prevention, water access, site cleanup, and strict adherence to fire season requirements and District rules.
