El Dorado County Resource Conservation District is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, Auburn Lake Trails Northern Shaded Fuel Break Project, identified under Solicitation ID: 5TR23101, 2026-02. Work is to be performed near 1400 American River Trail, Cool, CA 95614, USA in El Dorado County.

General Project Description

This project, funded by a CAL FIRE grant, involves vegetation management and fuel reduction services to establish a Shaded Fuel Break (SFB) along the northern and eastern boundaries of Auburn Lake Trails (ALT), adjacent to the Auburn State Recreation Area (ASRA). The scope includes clearing standing and downed (dead) trees, brush, and vegetative debris. Work methods may involve hand tools, masticators, chippers, and feller bunchers. Specific activities include pruning residual trees, masticating debris (to a maximum depth of four inches), cut and pile operations for burning (with specific aesthetic and location standards), and potential chipping or tub grinding. The project emphasizes avoiding sensitive environmental areas, cultural sites, and protecting water resources. The contractor is responsible for obtaining necessary permits and adhering to environmental, safety, and health requirements, including fire prevention measures. Traffic control measures are also required due to work near roadways.

Fire line (minimum three feet wide) constructed around each pile.
