General Project Description
The City of El Monte's Public Works Department, Environmental Division, is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for its Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program. The program involves managing quarterly community HHW round-up events, including collection, packaging, transportation, documentation, and final disposal at appropriate recycling/disposal facilities. The contractor will also provide emergency/on-call hazardous waste cleanup services. Additionally, the scope includes the collection and disposal of specific wastes (waste oil, used coolant, gasoline/diesel mixes, and used oil filters) from the City Yard Mechanics Garage. Key responsibilities also include preparing a site-specific Health and Safety/Emergency Contingency Plan, ensuring DOT and EPA compliant packaging and labeling, staff training, and comprehensive waste tracking and reporting.
