General Project Description

This project involves the comprehensive renovation and construction of the Recreation Park Teen Center, Plaza, and Skatepark in the City of El Segundo. The scope encompasses mobilization, hazardous materials allowance, interior furniture allowance, and complete site electrical utilities, including site lighting retrofits. For the Teen Center, work includes superstructure elements (roof, mechanical pad, parapet extension, wall openings), exterior enclosure (new plaster, paint, storefront, windows, doors, canopy refinishing), new spray polyurethane foam roofing, and interior construction (partitions, glazing, doors, millwork, specialties, fire extinguisher cabinets). Interior finishes, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and electrical systems (trade demolition, service distribution, power, lighting, telecom, security, fire alarm, AV rough-in) are also included, along with equipment furnishing and AV system integration. Selective building demolition covers exterior and interior components. The Teen Plaza work involves extensive site preparation (demolition, grading, landscaping), site improvements (paving, ramps, sport courts, fencing, ADA parking), sports equipment installation (basketball, volleyball), new fences and gates, landscape elements (mulch, shrubs, irrigation), and miscellaneous site features (striping, wheel stops, signage). Site mechanical utilities, a new underground infiltration system, and specialized skatepark construction are central to the project, covering earthwork, drainage, cast-in-place and shotcrete concrete, precast elements, coping, grind rails, and themed concrete features like a Water Tower. Alternative bids are also considered for site lighting and the water tower feature with colored concrete.
