Escondido City is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, Police and Fire HQ Elevator Maintenance and Repair Project, identified under Solicitation ID: 26-15. Work is to be performed near 201 N Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025, USA in San Diego County.

General Project Description

This project involves the modernization of two worn and problematic elevator systems located at the Police and Fire Headquarters in Escondido, CA. The scope includes furnishing, installing, and replacing existing elevator equipment to enhance reliability, minimize shutdowns, ensure safety for building occupants, and reduce liability. The modernization will bring the equipment into compliance with ASME A17.1-2004 Group IV code and includes comprehensive system component recommendations such as microprocessor duplex controllers, new hoistway leveling packages, multi-wire car/hoistway/machine room wiring, motor starter switches, fire service updates, ADA-compliant car operating panels (COP) with integrated emergency telephones and lighting, new hall stations, access switches, car door operator packages, electronic door detectors, a new submersible tank unit, smoke detectors, and various safety upgrades. The work is to be performed under a single prime contract, requiring coordination of construction schedule and operations with the City.

New Inspection Station / Pit Switch/ Alarm. New Car Operating Panel (COP – 1 per elevator cab) integrating ADA-compliant features, vandal-resistant pushbuttons (1/8” raised), Braille tags with contrasting backgrounds and threaded studs, ADA approved speaker phone, Phase II Fireman’s Service and jewel, emergency light unit, digital position indicator with segmented display, passing chime, engraved signage, and #8 Brass Mirror Polish. New In-car Emergency Telephone (ADA-approved, integral to new COP). New Emergency Car Lighting (Integral to new COP, with power supply for car light and alarm bell). New Hall Stations (1 riser) - Surface-Mount, #8 Brass Polished finish, installed at each landing to be compliant with Title 24 and ADA requirements, vandal-resistant. (NOTE: Coring of concrete/stone or patching of finished wall not included). New Access Switches. New Car Door Operator package: New Closed loop master power operator - Front / Rev. Retain existing Car door clutch assembly - Front/ Rev. New California Locking device. Retain and refurbish existing Car door hanger and Track assembly. Retain and refurbish existing Hall door hanger and Track assembly. New interlocks - 1 per opening. Retain car door panels. Retain hall door panels - New - Retain – Refurbish. New Electronic Door Detector: Front and Reverse (State-of-the-art electronic door protection system with infrared beams). New Tank Unit installation (submersible tank, pump, motor, valve, muffler, hydraulic fluid). (NOTE: Building owner/agent is responsible for removal of used oil). New Smoke Detectors: Installation of one smoke detector at each landing and one in the elevator machine room (if not already existing), to be installed by "Others" (owner responsibility). New Jamb Braille. Machine room cleaning (included). Inspection and associated permit issuance by local or State authority (included). Safety Upgrades: New Top of Car Inspection Station. New Pit Emergency Stop Switch. New Pit Ladder – as needed. New Access Alert Pit and Car Top. New Safety Circuit.
