General Project Description

This project involves street improvements on Crenshaw Boulevard (Northbound) from Rosecrans Avenue to 129th Place. The scope of work includes cold milling existing pavement, constructing new asphalt concrete (AC) pavement, removing and reconstructing PCC curb and gutter, commercial driveways, and commercial sidewalks, as well as adjusting various utility elements such as manholes, water valves, and water meters to grade. Additional improvements include milling existing concrete and installing truncated domes, removing and replacing damaged raised median islands, planting new trees in designated tree wells, filling existing tree wells with concrete, traffic striping and signing (including thermoplastic application and reflective pavement markers), and comprehensive traffic control measures. The project also entails the removal and reconstruction of handicap ramps at the SE corner of Crenshaw Blvd. and Rosecrans Ave., requiring an LA County Encroachment Permit. All work must conform to the "Greenbook" Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, Caltrans Standard Specifications, California MUTCD, and City of Gardena standard plans, with a strong emphasis on environmental protection through SWPPP and Best Management Practices.
