General Project Description

The City of Hemet is seeking a qualified Contractor to furnish all labor, equipment, tools, and materials to complete senior home repair projects that include extensive roofing work and basic safety improvements. The specific project identified involves the demolition of existing roofing, inspection and repair of decking, installation of new #30 LB felt, a 30-year dimensional Class A fire-rated composition shingle roof (owner selects color), installation of new drip edge, termination bars, and flashing, painting of vents and pipes, and new attic ventilation. The project also requires the installation of smoke detectors in each bedroom. All work must comply with current U.B.C. Code Chapter 15 and manufacturer standards. The contractor is responsible for all measurements, obtaining all permits, fees, and a City business license, and post-construction cleanup.

Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Demolition – Carefully remove the existing metal, membrane, or shingle roof covering down to the original decking/framing. Haul all waste off site to approved dump site.

Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Felt Installation – Install #30 LB felt across the entire roof deck, starting from the bottom edge and working up.
Quantity: 1440 Unit: SF Work Item: Roofing Installation – Install a new 30 year dimensional, Class A fire rated composition shingle roof, Specifications: to current U.B.C. Code Chapter 15 and manufactures standards. Owner selects roofing color from samples provided by the contractor. (No patio covers).
Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Flashing & Drip Edge Installation – Install new drip edge, termination bars, and flashing around all chimneys, vents, pipes, and intersecting wall surfaces to prevent water intrusion.
Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Painting – Paint all pipes and vents to match the new roof color.
Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Ventilation – Install new roof vents or a shingle-over ridge ventilation system, Specifications: as required by local codes and manufacturer guidelines to ensure proper attic ventilation.
Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Final Cleanup – Perform a thorough ground cleanup using magnets to pick up all nails and staples.
Quantity: 1 Unit: EA/bedroom Work Item: Smoke Detector Installation – Install one smoke detector device at each bedroom.
