General Project Description

The Town of Hillsborough is seeking professional vegetation management services for its Town-owned Open Space Areas, Easement Areas, and other Town-owned properties. The project aims to reduce wildfire risk, maintain baseline vegetation conditions established by previous fire management programs, and control invasive plant species. Work involves a combination of manual and mechanical removal methods (mowing, brush cutting, tree pruning), targeted herbicide application, and storm response cleanup activities like erosion control and clearing downed trees.

General Bid Items

  • Quantity: -  Unit: -  Work Item: Annual assessment and maintenance of Open Space Areas (approximately 240 acres total) including undeveloped grasslands, woodlands, and shrublands.

  • Quantity: -  Unit: -  Work Item: Understory thinning and removal, Specifications: cyclical basis, thinning saplings (4 inches DBH or less), felling and sectioning diseased/dead trees (less than 12 inches DBH) in place. Native shrubs and vegetation to be avoided where possible.

  • Quantity: -  Unit: -  Work Item: Green waste management, Specifications: processing (cutting, chipping) in place, or pulling upslope to a centrally-located chipper, disposing of green waste in small piles/windrows. Invasive plant greenwaste (except stinkwort) to be processed in place. Stinkwort to be pulled and bagged for offsite disposal.
