General Project Description
The County of Imperial Department of Public Works is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to provide professional traffic engineering services. The project involves completing a corridor and freight optimization plan for the Gateway of the Americas planning area, surrounding the Calexico East Port of Entry. The plan's purpose is to identify critical capital improvements, optimize commercial freight and passenger vehicle circulation, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts from traffic congestion and idling vehicles. Key tasks include reviewing existing conditions, conducting extensive public outreach, facilitating advisory committee meetings, performing a needs assessment, and preparing comprehensive draft and final optimization plans for Board approval. The project aims to advance statewide priorities outlined in the California Freight Mobility Plan 2023, Climate Action Plan, and Climate Adaptation Strategy.
