General Project Description

The Imperial County Department of Public Works (ICDPW) is seeking proposals from qualified professionals to provide on-call plan checking services on an as-needed, intermittent basis. The selected firm(s) will assist the County with various assignments for local, state, or federally funded projects during peak workloads, staffing shortages, or when expedited support is required. The scope includes plan checking for private development projects, street improvements, onsite grading plans, drainage, utility plans (water, sewer, underground), traffic control, construction detours, striping, signing, bridge and retaining wall structures (not under building permit purview), and consistency with planned improvements and County master/specific plans. The work also involves reviewing plan check submittal items and reports such as structural section calculations, hydrology/hydraulic reports, street layout/design, storm water best management practices, water/sewer pressure/capacity calculations, structure calculations, traffic reports/studies, and quantity/cost estimates. Consultants will also be tasked with developing and recommending improvements to existing Engineering Plan Check Criteria and Checklists.
