General Project Description

This project involves the installation of approximately 6000 square feet of artificial turf and concrete curbing at the baseball and softball areas of the Cerro Coso Community College Sports Complex. Key work items include site inspection, existing conditions assessment, excavation, and subgrade preparation (removal of vegetation and debris, weed killer treatment, 3-4 inch excavation, 90%+ compaction, and drainage). Base material installation consists of a 3-4 inch compacted layer of 20mm crushed rock or Class II base, followed by a ½ inch compacted layer of 5mm crushed rock/crusher dust/DG. The synthetic turf installation requires specific product standards (e.g., TigerTurf Platinum Series or approved equal, 1.75" pile height, ≥ 80 oz/sq yd face weight, UV-stabilized polyethylene monofilament fibers, double-layer polypropylene/polyurethane/latex backing with perforations, ≥ 30 in/hr vertical drainage). Perimeter securing will involve concrete mow curbs (3,000 PSI concrete, with reinforcement). Reinforced concrete equipment pads, sand infill, and final cleanup are also required. Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Excavation & Subgrade Preparation. Specifications: Remove vegetation and debris, treat soil with weed killer, excavate 3-4 inches, compact subgrade to 90%+, ensure proper horizontal drainage.
