General Project Description

The Kern Community College District is seeking qualifications from firms to provide Civil Engineering Services for the Bakersfield College Center for Student Success project. This project involves the repurposing of the original 59,500 square foot Library building (constructed circa 1956) into a 48,000 gsf Center for Student Success, which requires various interior reconfigurations and renovations. The selected Engineer will provide comprehensive services including detailed field surveys and verification of existing engineering-related systems, reporting on current conditions, identifying critical areas, recommending upgrades/repairs to meet codes, and coordinating with District staff. Specific engineering services may include soils testing, geologic hazard testing, site surveys, topographical map preparation, underground utility surveys, other system analysis, and landscape design with associated construction documents and administration for public plazas. Work is subject to the California Building Code (Title 24).
