General Project Description

This project involves the construction of Bicycle Friendly Streets at 4th Street and New Hampshire Avenue in Los Angeles. The scope includes furnishing labor, materials, tools, and equipment for project management, site preparation (clearing, grubbing, unclassified excavation, regrading, site preparation), Portland cement concrete (PCC) and asphalt concrete (AC) work (cold milling, removal of asphalt, concrete integral curb & gutter, concrete sidewalk, curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, concrete curb, variable AC pavement, crushed miscellaneous base), landscaping and irrigation improvements (soil preparation, shrubs, mulch, parkway removal, drip irrigation, solar irrigation controllers, wireless rain sensors, tree removals, wire and conduit removal), utility adjustments (maintenance hole and gate valve adjustments, pull box removal/reconstruction, water service and meter installation, irrigation backflow and enclosure, conduit installation for street lighting systems), temporary traffic control (including plans, signage, striping, restoration), and permanent traffic improvements (striping, pavement markings, traffic signs, street lighting poles and luminaires, associated wiring). The project also mandates compliance with the "Buy America" provisions for materials used.
