General Project Description

This project involves the installation of a 1.7-acre underground stormwater infiltration gallery at Fernangeles Park in Sun Valley, California. The primary purpose is to capture and infiltrate stormwater runoff from a 317-acre tributary area, reducing flooding, improving stormwater quality, and replenishing the San Fernando Groundwater Basin. The construction includes earthwork for the underground infiltration gallery (storing approximately 1,008,000 cubic feet of water), the installation of catch basins, pipelines (18 and 24-inch diameter), cross gutters, in-line pretreatment devices, flow measuring devices, level sensors, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and educational signage.
