General Project Description

This Capital Improvement Project (CIP 5261) involves the replacement of the existing polymer system at the Terminal Island Water Reclamation Plant (TIWRP). The scope includes demolition of existing polymer blending tanks, aging tanks, neat polymer transfer pumps, diluted polymer transfer pumps, polymer delivery pumps, associated concrete pads, metal stands, platforms, tank access ladders, drain grating and trench, electrical equipment, conduit, Allied Colloidal Control Panels, and related instrumentation. New procurement and installation consist of two FRP 7,000-gallon diluted polymer mixing tanks (with mixers and VFDs, access platform, and ladder), two neat polymer transfer progressive cavity pumps with disconnects, three diluted polymer delivery progressive cavity pumps, auxiliary systems (piping, tank flushing, level gauges, drainage, clean outs, isolation valves), electrical and instrumentation controls (VFDs, flow meters, automated control valves, level switches, pressure gauges, HMI console, power and control conduits, and wiring), structural site improvements (concrete foundations, pads, floor drains), and integration with existing utilities/control systems. The project also requires the installation of a temporary polymer addition system during construction, replacement of flexible hoses with CPVC piping, and addition of new diluted polymer injection lines.
