General Project Description
The project involves the removal, replacement, and structural reinforcement of an estimated 23 damaged exterior roof beams at the Menlo Park Library to restore structural integrity. The work includes the installation of new beam segments, associated structural components, and painting. The project is subject to a building permit and must be completed within 40 working days from the City's Notice to Proceed. The contractor will be responsible for a project kick-off meeting, field walk, demolition, fabrication and installation of glu-lam replacement sections with specific notching and connection methods, and coordination with City staff and consultants.

Work generally includes a 2' full depth glu-lam replacement of the existing exterior beam with a 9" minimum notched removal section where wood screws are used to connect the new glu-lam section to the existing beam. The 2' full depth replacement length will vary to fully capture the damaged section of the beams. Work is expected to pertain only to beam sections on the exterior of the building).
