General Project Description

This project involves the synchronization of traffic signals in the City of Merced. The scope includes the installation of wireless and fiber optic communication systems to facilitate traffic signal synchronization for 32 traffic signals. Key work items include replacing existing detector loops and McCain Flex traffic signal controllers, implementing updated traffic signal timing sheets, furnishing and installing Cisco network switches, managed Ethernet switches, wireless Cradlepoint devices, fiber optic splice closures, 12-strand SMFO cable with pull tape and tracer wire within 3-chamber flexible innerduct, and 4" HDPE fiber optic/traffic signal conduit. The project also requires fiber splicing and testing, Cradlepoint programming for the control center, and restoration of all disturbed areas to their preconstruction condition. Additionally, several alternate bids require furnishing and installing Notraffic Video Detection Systems at various specified locations.
