General Project Description

The project involves the modernization of two electric traction elevators at the Grossmont Transit Center, which provide vertical circulation between the Bus/Trolley station platforms and the Grossmont Center Drive overpass. The existing elevators, installed between 2010 and 2013, have exceeded their useful life and experience frequent outages. MTS is seeking a Design-Build entity to rehabilitate both elevators to a like-new and code-compliant state. The scope includes providing a new elevator machine room adjacent to the stair tower, designed to meet current code requirements, and proposed architectural improvements to the stair tower to enhance customer experience. All work must be executed while maintaining constant customer access to the stair tower (e.g., via temporary stairs or walkways) and minimizing impacts to MTS operations and passenger access. The Design-Builder is required to self-perform 10% of the Work.
