General Project Description

The project involves providing geological exploration drilling and monitoring well installation services along the California Aqueduct in Kern County, California. The contractor will utilize reverse circulation/flooded reverse drill rigs to drill boreholes and complete single-clustered groundwater monitoring wells to a maximum depth of 3,000 feet deep at various mile post locations. The scope includes mobilizing and demobilizing drilling and well development rigs, obtaining well permits, installing conductor casing, pilot hole drilling and reaming, conducting various drillhole geophysics logs (caliper, temperature, nuclear magnetic resonance, deviation survey, seismic velocity, flowmeter), installing stainless steel blank and louvered casings with compression fittings, well casing caps, and centralizers, placing annular backfill materials (filter pack, bentonite transition seal, sand-cement sanitary seal), performing initial well development using surge blocks, airlifting, pumping, and bailing, dispersing drilling fluids, constructing above-grade surface completions with monuments and crash bollards, installing telemetry chases and in-ground pull boxes, managing drill cutting and well development water disposal, and potentially performing drillhole destruction.
