General Project Description

The Department of Water Resources (DWR) seeks qualified firms to provide structural engineering services and related construction project management support for the repair, retrofit, and design of new hydraulic structures and appurtenances. This includes services for structures that are partially or fully submerged or convey water, such as check structures, concrete dams, weirs, siphons, fish ladders, piers, spillways, inlet towers and outlet works, canals, culverts, cofferdams, boat ramps, energy dissipaters, tunnels, penstocks, pipes, gate and valve structures, bifurcation structures, pumping or power plant substructures, rock barriers, fish screen structures, trash rack structures, and flood control walls. Key tasks involve preparing contract drawings and specifications, formal engineering calculations for peer and regulatory review, construction schedule and cost estimates, technical presentations, field inspection, condition assessment, retrofit solutions, material testing, and technical training for DWR staff.
