General Project Description

The North County Transit District (NCTD) is soliciting bids for mechanical and electrical services to remove and replace air compressor systems at its SPRINTER Operations Facility in Escondido, California. The project entails the dismantling and offsite disposal of two existing air compressors along with all associated piping, valves, instruments, controls, and appurtenances. A new air compressor will be furnished, delivered, and installed, complete with necessary testing, commissioning, and operator training. Key installation tasks include disconnecting existing electrical and compressed air piping (with proper air purging and refrigeration liquid disposal per EPA guidelines), installing new galvanized steel piping (valves, unions, elbows) to integrate with the existing system, anchoring the new unit per manufacturer specifications, and installing a new intermediate flow-controller regulator. The contractor is also responsible for extensive submittals including product data, detailed schedules, factory/field test reports, and providing operation/maintenance manuals and a 24-month warranty. All work must adhere to applicable industry standards and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
