Pasadena City is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, INDUSTRIAL STORAGE RACK SYSTEMS, identified under Solicitation ID: 2026-IFB-LM-0064. Work is to be performed near 125 N Vinedo Ave, Pasadena, CA 91107, USA in Los Angeles County.

General Project Description

The City of Pasadena Water and Power Department (PWP) is seeking a qualified vendor to furnish and install new industrial steel storage rack systems at a City warehouse. The project includes complete turnkey engineering, materials, labor, equipment, and all appurtenances necessary to deliver a fully functional, code-compliant racking system designed for heavy electrical equipment, transformers, wire reels, switches, and utility components. The installation must maximize capacity, maintain forklift aisle clearances, and ensure seismic stability, meeting applicable industry standards, City requirements, ANSI MH16.1-2021 (RMI), and OSHA 1910.176(b). The vendor is responsible for field verification, shop drawings, permitting, supply, delivery, assembly, anchoring, alignment, provision of hardware and protective elements, and coordination with City personnel.

General Bid Items

  • Quantity: 1  Unit: Each  Work Item: Total Cost of All Rack Materials, Specifications: High-visibility heavy-duty steel pallet racks for general parts and equipment storage, each pallet position to support a minimum uniform load of 4,000 lbs. Rack height shall not exceed 18 feet. Minimum clear aisle width: 8 feet. Uprights: hot-rolled structural steel, seismic-certified, 50 ksi yield, with welded base plates. Beams: structural channel beams with certified connectors, minimum two beams per level. Anchors: stainless or galvanized wedge anchors; shims for floor leveling included. Finish: Hot-dip galvanized or baked powder-coated for corrosion resistance. Accessories: 2 pallet beam supports per pallet position, back-to-back spacers at ≤10 ft intervals, end-of-aisle bollards and guards. All hardware and fasteners shall be zinc-plated Grade 5 or higher. Structural I- or channel-section beams with certified locking connectors. Protective equipment: end-of-aisle steel bollards (42” height, powder-coated yellow); cross-aisle ties and horizontal braces per RMI Section 6. All steel components new, hot-rolled structural steel conforming to ASTM A36 or A992.
  • Quantity: 1  Unit: Each  Work Item: Total Cost of All Labor (Planning, Installation, etc.), Specifications: Includes all engineering, materials acquisition and supply, labor, equipment, and appurtenances necessary for a fully functional, code-compliant racking system. This includes field verification of existing site dimensions and slab conditions, preparation of shop drawings and rack layout plans, permitting and compliance, delivery, assembly, anchoring, and alignment of all rack components. Also includes provision of all hardware, shims, anchors, fasteners, and protective elements, coordination of work with City personnel, testing, quality assurance, and final inspection. All work shall conform to AWS D1.1/D1.3 (2020) by certified welders and all rack systems shall be designed and installed in accordance with ANSI MH16.1-2021 (RMI) and OSHA 1910.176(b). Vendor shall field-verify all dimensions before fabrication.
