General Project Description

This project involves the removal of an existing wood and steel pedestrian bridge and the installation of a new prefabricated steel and concrete pedestrian bridge. The scope includes associated abutments and path of travel upgrades to access the bridge. Key work items encompass construction phasing, barricading, site preparation (clearing, stripping, utility removal/relocation), earthwork (excavation, subgrade preparation, compaction, dewatering), concrete forming and accessories, concrete reinforcing, cast-in-place concrete (foundations, beams, columns, elevated slabs, walls, retaining walls, equipment pads, light pole bases, flagpole bases, thrust blocks, manholes), drilled concrete piers, pipe and tube railings (handrails for ramps), basic electrical requirements (feeder/branch circuits, conduits, pullboxes, site lighting, LED fixtures), asphalt concrete paving, pavement markings and signs, concrete curb, gutter, sidewalks/walkways, cast-in-place detectable tactile warning surfaces, and chain link fences and gates. The project also mandates compliance with hazardous materials abatement (asbestos, lead paint), waste management, and applicable CALGreen and safety regulations.
