San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, On-Call Potable Water and/or Sanitary Sewer Repair Services List(s), identified under Solicitation ID: 1879. Work is to be performed near 1350 S E St, San Bernardino, CA 92408, USA in San Bernardino County.
General Project Description
The San Bernardino Municipal Water Department (SBMWD) is seeking to pre-qualify construction firms for on-call emergency and small-scale planned/scheduled repairs and installations of potable water and sanitary sewer systems. The work includes responding to water distribution and sanitary sewer collection system emergencies (e.g., ruptured infrastructure, sanitary sewer overflows, collapsed pipes, sinkholes), repairing or installing pipelines and appurtenances due to breaks, root damage, or age, and installing new water services, fire hydrants, air vacuum/release valves, service relocations, and abandonments. Specific tasks involve excavation, material procurement, installation, backfill, paving, site remediation, cleaning, traffic control, and obtaining encroachment permits. The work will involve various pipe materials such as Cast Iron Pipe (CIP), Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP), Cement Mortar Lined and Coated Steel (CML&C), Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP), Polyvinylchloride (PVC), Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), and steel, with diameters ranging from 2” to 78” for water and 3” to 54” for sewer mains.

- Quantity: 2 Unit: Each Work Item: Backfill and compaction of excavations and trenches, Specifications: To SBMWD standard W5.1 (Attachment 3); provide one set of compaction tests per service installation and submit compaction reports to SBMWD.
- Quantity: 2 Unit: Each Work Item: Lay hot mix/base pave all excavations and trench lines, Specifications: Assume two (2) trench cuts, 2.5’ wide by 53’ long by 4” thick (SBMWD will perform final grind and cap of asphalt later).
- Quantity: 1 Unit: Each Work Item: Concrete replacement, Specifications: Entire sidewalk panel with minimum 5.5 Sack 3,250 PSI concrete poured to City Standard 202 (Attachment 4). Assume one concrete panel 6’ by 10’, set and finish in two (2) water meter boxes (one #3 and one #6).
