General Project Description

The San Bernardino Municipal Water Department (SBMWD) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to pre-qualify additional construction firms for its 2025/2026 On-Call Potable Water and/or Sanitary Sewer Repair Services List. This list will include contractors for emergency water/sewer repairs and small-scale planned/scheduled water and sanitary sewer projects (under 100 feet in length). Services involve responding to water distribution and sanitary sewer collection system emergencies (e.g., ruptured pipelines, sanitary sewer overflows, sinkholes, collapsed pipe sections, root damage) on a 24/7 basis, as well as executing planned installations of new water services, fire hydrants, and valves, and performing service relocations/abandonments. Contractors are expected to provide all labor, materials, and equipment.

Quantity: 2 Unit: EACH Work Item: Trench, Specifications: Backfill and compact to SBMWD standard W5.1 (Attachment 3). Provide one set of compaction tests for each service installation.
Quantity: 2 Unit: EACH Work Item: Trench, Specifications: Lay hot mix/base pave all excavations and trench lines (assume two (2) trench cuts, 2.5’ wide by 53’ long by 4” thick).
Quantity: 1 Unit: EACH Work Item: Concrete replacement, Specifications: Entire sidewalk panel minimum 5.5 Sack 3,250 PSI concrete poured to City Standard 202 (Attachment 4). Assume one concrete panel 6’ by 10’, set and finish in two (2) water meter boxes one (1) #3 and one (1) #6.
