General Project Description

The project focuses on the Phase 1B Liner Construction at the Landers Sanitary Landfill in San Bernardino County, California, involving an 11-acre cell expansion. The scope includes extensive earthwork such as clearing, grubbing, demolition, excavation, stockpiling, screening, subgrade preparation, veneer fill, and waste removal, including specialized blasting. The core work involves installing a composite liner system (base liner and side slope liner) using various geosynthetics like HDPE geomembrane (40-mil and 60-mil textured), Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), and geotextile. Furthermore, it encompasses the construction of leachate collection and removal systems (LCRS), lysimeter, and landfill gas (LFG) collection systems, which includes installing various HDPE pipes (slotted and solid), drainage gravel, and associated support structures. Miscellaneous civil and drainage improvements such as Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) items, asphalt concrete (AC) pavement, corrugated HDPE pipe culverts, rock slope protection, and traversable dikes are also part of the project. Finally, geomembrane leak location surveys using electrical methods will be performed to verify the integrity of the installed liner system.
