General Project Description

This project involves the demolition and replacement of concrete sidewalk pavement sections at Aptos Middle School that exhibit cracks, holes, lifts, and depressions. The scope includes sawcutting, removal of existing concrete, replacement with new concrete for level surfaces, providing and installing a missing sewer vent frame and cover, cleaning the sewer vent, obtaining a Sidewalk Repair Permit and coordinating with a City Inspector for final inspection. The contractor is also responsible for securing construction areas, managing traffic control, providing a pedestrian path, daily cleanup, and providing a 2-year warranty on the completed work. All work must comply with San Francisco Public Works Code and SFDPW Engineering Standards.

D 209 lampblack per cubic yard; concrete strength 2,500 to 3,000 PSI; subgrade to be thoroughly tamped, wetted, or compacted with water (if sand); mortar flush to top, struck off with a straight edge; floated with a steel trowel; brushed transversely with a bristly brush for uniform, nonskid texture; transverse joints extending entire width at right angles to curb line, provided at lot lines and approximately 30 feet apart, formed by concrete saw, 2-inch x 2-inch x 1/4-inch steel tee, or keyed construction/cold joint; no joint filler; concrete mix submittal required for approval.
