General Project Description

This project involves the removal of an existing painted wall mural at Grattan Elementary School. The work requires chemical stripping of the mural from a concrete retaining wall in an interior school corridor. A significant part of the scope includes the abatement and disposal of hazardous materials, specifically asbestos-containing skimcoat compounds and lead-based paints, found within the mural and underlying structures. All work must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous materials handling, control, and disposal. Procedures include full isolation containment, wet methods, HEPA vacuuming, paint stabilization, demolition controls, dust cleanup, and reoccupancy testing following abatement activities.

Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Final cleaning and reoccupancy testing for asbestos hazards, Specifications: Aggressive air sampling (PCM or TEM) for all abatement zones, visual inspection to show airborne concentration below 0.01 f/cc.
Quantity: 1 Unit: LS Work Item: Final cleaning and reoccupancy testing for lead hazards, Specifications: Wet wiping with TSP solution, HEPA vacuuming, visual inspection, wipe sampling per EPA Reoccupancy Dust Standards (100 micrograms/ft2).
