General Project Description

This project involves the widening of Esplanade Avenue from two lanes to four lanes, including a center turn lane. Key elements include the installation of traffic signals at the intersections of Esplanade Avenue with Warren Avenue and Cawston Avenue, and the construction of sidewalks and drainage facilities along the north side of Esplanade Avenue. The scope encompasses mobilization, traffic control, water pollution control, clearing and grubbing, saw cutting, removal and disposal of various existing facilities (pavement, AC berms, CMP, headwalls, reflector delineators, rip-rap, guard rails, fencing, gates, mailboxes, and signage). New construction includes cold milling, asphalt concrete paving, Class 2 aggregate base, sidewalks, curb and gutter, residential driveways, ADA access ramps, storm drain structures (headwalls, concrete collars, transition structures, manholes, curb inlet catch basins, RCP pipes, and junction structures), rip-rap installation, slurry seal, crack sealing, and new traffic signal work (including temporary project signage), striping, and pavement markings. The project also includes additive alternate bid items for adjusting and relocating various EMWD facilities.
