General Project Description

The San Mateo County Public Safety Communications (PSC) Department is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to gather market research and better understand modern technologies for the future modernization of the County's Public Safety Communications Network (PSCN). This RFI seeks information from qualified suppliers on modern architectures, service models, and technical solutions to address existing gaps, enhance inter-agency data sharing, CJIS-compliant access, digital evidence workflows, real-time situational awareness, and integrate with emerging technologies like IoT sensors, drones, and mobile platforms. The goal is to develop a secure, resilient, and interoperable network infrastructure supporting 911 operations and mission-critical services for Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement agencies across the county, replacing legacy architecture with a platform capable of Zero Trust access, multi-path WAN redundancy, and next-generation public-safety technologies. This is solely for market research, and no contract will be awarded through this RFI.
