General Project Description

The County of Santa Cruz Department of Community Development & Infrastructure is seeking proposals for professional civil engineering design services for the Either Way Bridge Replacement Project (Bridge No. 36C-0073). The project involves completely replacing the existing structurally deficient, narrow one-lane steel army treadway bridge and its roadway approaches with a new 2-lane concrete bridge and approaches designed to current standards. The scope includes comprehensive project management, kick-off meetings and field investigations, progress meetings, preparation of a Type Selection Report (including 35% design, geometric alignment, bridge span/width, detour alignments, preliminary foundation concepts, slope stability, draft construction schedule, and cost estimate), optional survey and mapping (topographic, aerial, ground control), hydraulic cross-section surveys, right-of-way establishment, easement plotting, base map provision, Record of Survey Map, appraisal exhibits, geotechnical investigations, hydrologic and hydraulic reporting, optional post-construction stormwater design (if disturbed area exceeds 1 acre), bridge design (per AASHTO LRFD, Caltrans standards, seismic design, traffic control), an independent bridge design check, 95% design submittal (technical specifications, mitigation measures, permitting requirements, construction schedule), 100% PS&E deliverables, utility coordination, and environmental support for NEPA determination.
