General Project Description

The County of Solano is soliciting bids for professional "pineapple" pruning and trunk skinning services for 86 palm trees located throughout its downtown Fairfield campus. The project involves pruning 42 Mexican Fan Palms, 35 Canary Island Date Palms, and 9 Windmill Palms, ranging in height from 40 to 120 feet tall. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor, equipment, tools, materials, traffic control, and supervision. All work must comply with ANSI A300 pruning standards and ANSI Z133 safety standards. Key tasks include removing dead or chlorotic fronds, pruning live green fronds to a 35-degree angle, removing flowers, fruit, and fallen fronds, and proper tool disinfection between trees to prevent disease spread (specifically Fusariam wilt). The contractor must also obtain necessary city permits, implement approved traffic control plans, report diseased/infested trees, and dispose of all tree material through reduction, reuse, recycling, or approved landfill. A permanent ISA Certified Arborist is required to be on-site at all times.
