General Project Description

The Sylvan Union School District is soliciting proposals for E-rate eligible, multi-year Wide Area Network (WAN) services. The project involves upgrading and maintaining dedicated fiber-connected metro-area Layer 2 Ethernet backbone network services for 13 school sites and the District Office. The scope includes maintaining or increasing current aggregate bandwidth to sites, delivering a minimum Committed Information Rate (CIR) of 10,000 Mbps full-duplex, with options up to 20,000 Mbps full duplex in 5000 Mbps increments for school sites and the District Office. The awarded contractor will be responsible for providing a fully managed solution, including all necessary hardware (switches, cabling, connectors, UPS) for each site's Main Distribution Facility (MDF), ensuring 24/7 full bandwidth availability, and guaranteeing the network is fully operational by July 1, 2026. The service handoff at each site must be 10000-LX (or 10 gig single mode fiber) terminating on an RJ45 standard Ethernet jack or fiber equivalent LC-style GBIC connectors, capable of carrying multiple protocols like IP Data, VoIP, and streaming video with Quality of Service (QoS) support.
