General Project Description

The Temecula Valley Unified School District is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to design, furnish, install, and commission a turnkey, District-owned Digital Trunked Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system. The system must provide reliable two-way voice communication across the District's 213-square mile service area, serving approximately 27,000 students across 32 public schools. Key requirements include ensuring independent voice communication between the District EOC and all School Site Administration Offices using Tier 1 handheld radios, functioning during power grid or cellular collapse, accounting for ballistic film signal attenuation with 95% in-building reliability, and providing mobile coverage to 95% of DAILY bus routes. The system should utilize existing vertical real estate (co-location) where possible and must be a Digital Trunked Architecture based on Motorola Solutions Capacity Plus (Multi-Site). The project includes providing various subscriber hardware (Motorola R5, R2, XPR 5350e, XPR 5550e), a PC-based dispatch console, multi-unit chargers, remote speaker microphones, user training, frequency & legacy equipment audit, and installation to R56 standards (grounding/lightning protection) with ignition-sense wiring. Acceptance testing includes coverage grid and EOC check tests.
