General Project Description
The Truckee Tahoe Airport District is requesting proposals for professional asphalt maintenance services, including crack filling, sealing, and striping for the Airport Office Building and Long-Term Parking Lot. The project involves comprehensive surface preparation, hot-applied crack filling, two coats of asphalt seal coat, and parking lot striping, all to be completed within the 2026 summer paint season and adhering to California Public Works and Prevailing Wage requirements.
General Bid Items
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Surface Preparation for Asphalt Maintenance. Specifications: Perform cleaning and preparation in accordance with RaynGuard's and hot-applied asphalt-based crack filling manufacturer's recommendations and industry best practices. This includes removing dirt, debris, plants/weeds, and contaminants using a high CFM blower, mechanical/manual broom, wire brush, and/or high-pressure power washer. Apply oil spot primer to areas with oil or grease buildup. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and properly prepared prior to coating.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Hot Applied Crack Filling. Specifications: Fill all cracks greater than ½ inch with a Type 2 hot applied, asphalt-based crack filling product. Apply in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and industry best practices, when pavement temperature is at least 50 degrees F. Apply a second coat if needed to create a finished product leveled with the asphalt grade.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Seal Coat Application. Specifications: Apply two coats of SteelGuard 60 to unsealed asphalt surfaces. Apply onto clean, dry or damp surfaces from which all contaminates have been removed. Apply when the pavement and air temperature are at least 55 degrees F. Allow two hours of dry time between the first and second application. Application shall cease during windy or adverse weather conditions.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Parking Lot Striping. Specifications: Striping shall match the existing approved layout and identifying colors using a high-quality traffic-grade paint suitable for Truckee's climatic conditions and traffic use. Ensure pavement is dry and suitable for striping at the time of application.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Traffic Control, Protection, and Safety. Specifications: Contractor is responsible for protecting all adjacent exterior elements (concrete curbing, landscaping, signage, vehicles). Maintain safe access for all vehicles and pedestrians during work. Provide temporary traffic control, cones, barricades, and signage as necessary. Provide and maintain all required safety equipment.
