General Project Description

This project involves the construction of an all-electric central heating and cooling plant (EHCP) at the University of California, Berkeley campus. The EHCP's primary function is to provide space for mechanical and electrical equipment to distribute hot and chilled water, replacing an existing natural gas steam plant. The system will include a thermal energy storage (TES) exterior steel tank capable of storing 2 million gallons of water. The plant will have one level, with program and office areas. Work Package WP-11 specifically includes the design, furnishing, and installation of shoring, dewatering, and drilled concrete piers for both the EHCP building and the thermal energy storage tank.
