General Project Description
The University of California, Merced is seeking an Executive Architect to provide programming and design services for the Experimental Smart Farm Agtech Barn. This project involves developing a utility-supporting metal pole barn at the southern edge of the main campus to protect research equipment and serve as a logistics hub for agricultural technology and field research. The scope includes the design of a new metal-roofed pole barn structure, foundations, slab-on-grade construction, site grading, parking accommodations, access road extension (approximately 650 feet for fire access), installation of electrical infrastructure for future solar array connections and building lighting, and a fire water supply/emergency system. Utility provisions for research equipment and future AgTech field connections will be incorporated. The facility is intended to be designed as 'off-grid' in terms of energy, irrigation, internet, and waste management, with consideration for future expansion.
